While doing my regular calligraphy, I decided to take a break and do something fun. So, for you jrock fans out there, here is Gackt's full name, done in the elegant, cursive Sousho script. (Not sure if DA will show it, but the characters are ????, and are the ones he uses himself in his fanclub magazines when he does his own calligraphy.)
This is clearly a stage name, as I doubt a muscian would be lucky enough to naturally have a name that means something along the lines of "Divine Might"(Kamu/i) and "Made of Music"(Gaku/to).
The stamp is the corner is my artist's mark.
(If you want to download this and use it in an icon or desktop, feel free! All I ask is that you credit me with a link back to my DA page. Thank you, and enjoy! )
Oh wow. You've heard me rave about how much I love the flowing lines of your Sousho before, but the sheer rhythm and symmetry with which you've made these all line up and flow together is truly astonishing. How fitting that such a gorgeous man should have a name that can be so elegantly written out, too!
(BTW, have you seen any of the recent-ish news coverage of the young calligrapher in Japan -- her name's escaping me at the moment, it's been a few weeks since I saw the article -- who's trying to take that sort of form-meets-meaning approach and apply it to Western lettering? She's got some really interesting work from what little I've seen so far...)

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

And yes, I saw her stuff a little while ago, though her name is escaping me too: I liked her flower/hana piece quite a bit.
